Abi O'Neal is an accomplished and experienced leader in the field of education, with a strong commitment to social justice and equity. With a notable career spanning over 10 years, Abi has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a track record of success in charter schools across New York, North Carolina, and California.

In addition to her leadership roles, Abi is a first-generation college graduate from Syracuse University, which instilled in her a profound appreciation for the transformative power of education. She earned her Masters of Arts in Teaching from the esteemed University of Southern California, enhancing her leadership capabilities and furthering her commitment to creating a more equitable educational landscape. Abi finds joy in playing golf, spending quality time spent with two toddlers and her two Chinese Shar Peis!

DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS & HR

Umi has been at WNYA since the founding year and is excited to continue into the new school year leading the Operations team. Umi has 6 years of experience working with students and families. Before WNYA Umi worked as a Family Support Specialist for a local non profit supporting underrepresented families and providing them with the resources they need to be successful.

Umi takes pride in serving her community and is a Seattle Native! She was born and raised in Seattle and is one of 6 siblings. Her family roots tie back to Kenya and Somalia. Umi is bilingual in Swahili and proficient in Somali. In addition to being a daughter, sibling and wife, Umi is a mother to an adventurous one year old girl. Umi enjoys spending her free time with her family trying out local food spots, traveling, and taking walks around Seattle.
